A Letter From Yene

This documentary on ecology and climate change and its impact on a local community is situated at the seaside town of Yene, Senegal. The area of fishermen and farmers has in recent decades been besieged by coastal erosion and uncontrolled urbanisation. Local fishermen with pirogues are replaced by motorised ones, destroying the sea bottom with their nets. The women of former fishermen now sell pebbles, sand, and shells, and thus contributing, ironically, to the coastal erosion.
