ALI FARKA TOURE – LE MIEL N’EST JAMAIS BON DANS UNE SEULE BOUCHE
He is often compared to Lee Hooker, Lightnin’ Hopkins or Big Joe Williams. The Malian bluesman, Ali Farka Touré, always wears glasses that cover part of his face, sports a tiny moustache that is starting to turn white. A self-taught guitar player, a recognised master of the njarka (a small single-string violin), he has managed to adapt traditional Malian tunes to the six-string guitar. An ardent music-lover, Marc Huraux, the director, followed the 63-year-old musician to his native village of Niafunké at the end of 1999, where he recorded the images he needed to make a documentary: ‘Ali Farka Touré, "honey is never any good in just one mouth".
