In New York in the 1980s and 1990s, young Caribbean newcomers kept their culture and identity alive through a new genre: dancehall. With rousing music, cool sound systems, and rhythmic dance, they built a unique scene that will eventually become world famous.

This musical documentary about an underrepresented movement within the Afro-Caribbean diaspora was co-produced by Shaggy. ‘Bad Like Brooklyn Dancehall’ combines unique archival footage from Kingston and Brooklyn with interactive stories and energetic performances. Famous artists like Sean Paul and Ding Dong also share their personal stories during intimate interviews.
