Benzine

Salem and Halima are agonized by loss. They have heard nothing from or about their only son who left for Italy nine months earlier. The uncertainty makes Halima ill. Salem tries to find out who smuggled his son to Europe, but his investigations yield to nothing. One evening, they receive a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The couple is preparing to go to Tunis. Has their son been found? Is he still alive?

Many films have dealt with immigration over the past two decades, but most have dealt with it from the point of view of the immigrant or the place where the migration took place. Benzine deals with the issue from the point of view of those who stayed behind.
