Sparked by the uprising of the "fees must fall" protests, we witness how a generation responds to a system structured to keep them oppressed. Although Apartheid ended 25 years ago, Africans today are still being deprived. The ruling party/government that won the first democratic elections and still governs South Africa today, promised its supporters a better life for their children, which was supposed to include free decolonized education. But today, thousands of the "born frees" are still unable to overcome their circumstances by furthering their education because of the lack of finances.
