Blind Spots

This film follows the journey of Godfrey, Kalule, Billy, and Steven from their school in Wakiso, Uganda, to a train station in Antwerp, to understand and combat the ongoing impact of colonial culture in our education, culture, and institutions. To overcome this, the focus should not be on structures, culture, and policies influenced by colonialism, but on ourselves and our ability to be critical of this colonial culture with its racism and prejudices. Blind Spots confronts the viewer with their way of thinking, without moralising and with the necessary acknowledgment and humour.

After the film, there will be a post-film discussion with Steven Janssen and Billy Kalonji on decolonising thought.
