CAMINHOS DA PAZ (CHEMINS DE LA PAIX)

The movie Caminhos de Paz covers a part of the history of Mozambique which begins with the colonial war between the Portuguese army and independence movements. It gives a view of the civil war triggered in the 1980s and the role of the churches and South Africa. It is a film about a war which has lasted more than ten years and which was one of the deadliest for the population. It still remains in recent decades one of the few examples of how a conflict can be resolved by negotiation in Africa. Without any doubt the peace making in Mozambique has become an example of how a non-institutional reality, that of the Sant'Egidio Community, may bring forward a successful mediation with a synergy of responsibilities between governmental and non-governmental institutions.
