Congo Lucha

Spoken: French. Subtitles: Dutch/English.

La Lucha is a youth movement in Goma, DR Congo. The one thing that defines the activists is their love for their native DR Congo and the hope to see it prosperous and developed in their lifetime. They fight for individual freedom and human rights. Their peaceful actions are often answered with violence by the authorities of the Congo. Shot over a period of two years, from the moment President Kabila announced he refused to hold elections and Congo fell into a crisis, filmmaker Marlène Rabaud filmed the actions of these young people. A fight for holding elections and against the continuation of the power of Joseph Kabila. Supported by a team of Congolese cameramen, Congo Lucha offers a unique testimony of an important moment in the tumultuous history of Congo.
