El Hara

How do the fortresses we build to protect ourselves affect the people we become? A snapshot of the Jewish community of Tunis, El Hara, seen through the work of Tunesian Jewish writer Albert Memmi. El Hara follows one man's break with the neigborhood of his youth, highlighting how such moments of rupture haunt us forever. A philosophical short film about identity, colonization and estrangement.
