Io à Lubumbashi
Spoken: French. Subtitles: English.
Io in Lubumbashi is a warm journey behind the scenes of the theatrical creation of Io (tragedy) by Kossi Efoui at the French Institute in Lubumbashi in April 2011. The documentary shows how, with the help of Penelope Dechaufour, the play was created in just two months. Between myth and reality, this film gives us a portrait of the amateur comedians of the Congolese troupe MULAO, and reveals the debates and denunciations that emerged during the creation of the play, in the context of the actor’s personal stories and on the background of the current situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
