Long live the dead!
Stevo Atambire is a true troubadour who moves from one funeral to another in Ghana to sing impromptu songs about the deceased and his/her family. Funerals in Ghana are only held in the dry season and turn into true events, with wardancers, techno music, spectacle and vendors providing food and drinks to the visitors.
Long Live the Dead is an exclusive story, where the directors were only able to capture the extraordinary funeral rituals with the help of the charismatic and popular Stevo. It is a mix of culture, discovery, anthropology, techno and rock'n roll!

Five films were nominated for the Africa Film Festival 2023 Prize of the Flemish UNESCO Commission on the theme of Intangible Heritage. This is part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Preserving intangible heritage can contribute to strengthening cultural identity, social cohesion of communities and promoting sustainable development. It can also promote other SDGs, such as quality education and Peace and Justice.
This year, the Flemish UNESCO Commission celebrates its 20th anniversary. We will celebrate this anniversary year on the closing night, 6 May; where we will announce the winner of the eighth edition of the UNESCO competition.
