Mali twist

In 1962, Mali is enjoying its newly acquired independence and the youth of Bamako is dancing the night away to the twist from France and America. Samba, the son of a rich merchant, lives the revolutionary ideal: he travels the country to explain the virtues of socialism to the peasants. It is there, in Bambara country, that he meets Lara. She is a young girl married by force, whose beauty and determination overwhelms Samba. Both Samba and Lara know that their love is threatened.
