MOLOCH TROPICAL
For his sixth movie, a Shakespearean power drama, the Haitian filmmaker sought inspiration in his own experience as Minister of Culture under Aristide. ‘Moloch Tropical’ is the story of the last 24 hours of the president’s life, when he was cornered in his fortress. The film tears apart the very structure of power which leads to a politician cutting himself off from the people and reality, and even into insanity. Apart from Aristide, Peck also had the antics of Clinton and Berlusconi in mind… The film was shot entirely in Haiti and is, at the same time, a great credit to independent film making.
