The year is 1994. Burundi, a small country in central Africa bordered by Rwanda, is in a civil war. A conflict almost genocide puts the rebels of whom a majority are Hutu against the national army mostly Tutsi … This short tells one of the many sad and frequent episodes of this fraternal conflict : an attack by rebels on a minibus transporting civilians. A kalachnikov goes off. The bus stops, the passengers get off. Then an order is given : « Hutus to the left, Tutsis to the right » A selection starts : keep the « good » Hutus and eliminate the “bad” Tutsis. But who is Hutu, who is Tutsi ? … This story is based on real life. It was written by someone who lived the beauty of Burundi and also suffered its horrors.
