Neptune Frost

VO: Kinyarwanda, English, Swahili, French / ST: English

Neptune Frost is a dense Afro-futuristic musical full of striking identities. It combines an intersex narrative and a technological allegory embracing anti-capitalist and anti-colonialist views. The film is a collective dream, coloured in shades of blue, dancing on the edge of something transcendent.

With low budget means and maximum imagination, Uzeyman and Williams set a theatrical setting in which dream and reality alternate and time and gender are fluid phenomena. This film has everything to become a cult classic.

Followed by an interactive talk by Emmanuel Iyamu on the influence and cultural impact of African film on both a new generation of young people of colour and the Western film landscape.
