Noma, a young black woman, represents a huge portion of the post-apartheid South African youth: a single mother, surviving with a precarious job, living in a township, renting a shack that she shares with her family. To improve her life, she joins a land occupation action. They build a home for themselves and their families in a new settlement, risking violent evictions. Shot in beautiful black and white, the Spanish born, Cape Town based filmmaker Pablo Pinedo draws on the Italian cinema tradition of Neorealism to express painful realities.

Winner of the Amnesty International Human Rights Awards at the Durban International Film Festival. The filmmaker Pablo Pinedo started a crowdfunding campaign to get funds for Noma, the character of the film, for her to buy a house. A very simple one, in Cape Town, in order to help her to come out of the systemic poverty she lives in.
