Pelikaanstraat 20

Pelikaanstraat 20 tells the story of the Flemish-Malinese actrice Aminata Demba. She follows the footsteps of her deceased father. He came to Antwerp in the 70's as an expat in the diamand industry. Aminata returns to Mali to find out about her own history and to listen to the migration story of others. During her search, she comes into contact with a generation of twenty-year olds in Mali today. She meets ambitious people who make different  choices: some decide to leave, others decide to stay. Some make the reverse migration movement: they return back to Mali. Her trip leads to personal stories and confronting moments, but most of all to insights that are recognizable to many young people both in Mali and Belgium, regardless of their origin.
